A final day in Paris

By nzswiatek5

After a relaxing sleep-in, we packed our bags, left them with the hotel and headed out again.  First, we had brunch at our favourite Cafe Zephyr and then we took the Metro to the Picasso Museum.  I was a little torn as Picasso was Spanish and we were in France, but he did spend most of his life in and around Paris so I decided it was ok.  The museum was housed in an old home that dated back to the 1600s and was full of great works including sketches, paintings, sculptures and pictures.  My personal favourite was the sculpture of the goat.  You weren’t allowed to take pictures of it, so here is a copy of the picture I found on the internet.

Since we couldn’t take picture in the gallery, Mike and the kids pretended to be a Picasso painting in front of the museum!  Very Cubist, if I do say so myself!

After the museum we headed to Sacre Coeur.  We walked to the top for one last view over Paris and a look at the beautiful Church.  As you probably guessed, this picture was not taken when we were actually at Sacre Coeur, but rather from the corner where our hotel was.  It was a good picture so I included it here.  Needless to say, the Church was very beautiful and very crowded!
After another great meal at a brasserie (this one had a cute dog wandering around the tables) we high-tailed it back to the hotel to get our bags and then to the airport to catch our flight.  It was a close one, but we made it just as the flight was boarding.
Fortunately for us, it is a special week in Budapest as August 20th is a National holiday celebrating St. Istvan and the country of Hungary.  There is tons going on so we won’t have time to miss Paris.  I say this especially to help Emily who is going through Paris withdrawal already!
